"The images in this book were made by an insider-turned-outsider looking in. Born and raised in the United States, I've lived primarily in Germany for the past decade. I took these photographs in the USA between 2016-2019 on visits and various road trips. The United States has a unique visual language that differs across the country, undulating and mutating into a diverse assortment of dialects throughout. Long stretches of driving produce slow-motion fades: enchanted landscapes give way to concrete tracts of industrial zones or box stores spread in an endless flatness of color and form."
